Year 10 Netball

Year 10 Netball started their season off with a great win in their first league match.
In wet and windy conditions the girls played some great netball ensuring a 42-3 victory against Campion.
The first quarter saw Southam take a 13-0 lead.  The defence of Issy Bergendorff and Megan Free saw some great interceptions being made in the defensive circle.  This helped Southam gain a good lead with the attack bringing the ball down the court and C Abbie Bourton feeding some great balls into the shooters.
A change of positions in the second quarter did not stop Southams great play. GS/GA Jess Carro and Alice Dillon were on fire in the attacking circle and and did not miss a shoot between them in this quarter.  Campion continued to attack well but again even with a change in our defence GD/WD Kiera Moore and Mary Stewart made some great interceptions giving the attack opportunities to extend their lead to 23-0 at the end of quarter two.
Another change in the third quarter did not phase the team and again with different combinations in both attack and defence the girls played some great team netball extending their lead to 35-1.
The last quarter and the rain became even heavier.  The girls continued to dominate the game with some great play.  Players playing out of their normal positions showed great versatility including WA Mary Stewart and GA Holly Yates which was encouraging ready for tour this weekend.
Final Score 42-3
Opposition Player Of The Match – Rosie Dillon
Coaches Player Of The Match – Jess Carro
