After a long break from training and matches the Year 9 netball team were against the tough opposition of Rugby School.
The girls started at a slow pace which Rugby used to their advantage and were leading the first quarter 9-3. The girls got their game together in the second quarter and with some good defensive work from all players saw the team make some good interceptions which they were able to utilise and play the ball into GS Jess Carro who throughout the game converted some fantastic shots into goals. Half time score saw Southam losing 13-9. In the third quarter Southam battled well especially GA Rosie Dillon who was playing a very physical GD and Abbie Bourton who had been placed into the C position. The girls continued to apply pressure to the oppositions passing which again saw some great interceptions by GK Issy Bergendorff and GD Megan Free. Southam went into the last quarter losing 18-14. The last quarter saw Rugby create some great moves down the court which Southam struggled to keep up with seeing the girls lose the game 24-17. Although it was a loss for the girls they played some great intervals of netball and can take a lot of positives away from the game.
Well done girls.
Very proud of you all.
