On a bright and sunny Saturday morning the year 9 Rugby team were hopeful of continuing their fine start to the season with a win over Camp Hill.
The boys conducted a period of silence in remembrance before kick off.
Southam started the game at great intensity and nearly scored straight from kick off but were turned over just short of the try line. From this position Camp Hill worked their way up the pitch and scored in the corner to take the lead 5-0.
Southam responded and after a passage of good rucks and forward play Ben scored his first ever try for Southam College after a good dive for the line from the base of a ruck.
Both teams battled in the midfield with neither team being able to score again before half time. Half time score 5-5.
Southam started the second half in a similar fashion to the first half and were rewarded with a try. A strong scrum, quick pass from Rhys to Nick who ran in from a great distance whilst brushing off a number of tackle.
Unfortunately that was the last of the scoring for Southam. Camp Hill responded with a try off a scrum inside the 22 and this try was converted.
The game was still played in the midfield area but Camp Hill scored a further 2 tries to seal a 24-10 win.
A disappointing Saturday morning for the boys, particularly to lose their unbeaten record. Can I please thank the boys that stepped in to play at short notice, it is very much appreciated.
See you all at training on Wednesday.
