In their last German lessons of the term, Year 7 students have been taking part in Christmas lessons. They were given the choice of three options for their Home Learning task. Some decided to visit the German Christmas market in Birmingham and many of these students shared interesting stories from their visits, or brought in souvenirs they had bought there. Other students did some research into typical German Christmas traditions and found out plenty of interesting facts about the food that is eat, the origins of Christmas trees and Father Christmas and how the German people celebrate this holiday. Finally, certain students chose to bake some typical German Christmas foods. During the lesson, we were able to sample Stollen, Lebkuchen (gingerbread biscuits), gingerbread houses and many other delicious creations. The students really enjoyed this lesson, as usual, and hopefully learnt a lot about Germany at Christmas.

Frohe Weihnachten (Merry Christmas) from Year 7 and the Modern Foreign Languages department!
